Land Rover Durban KZN Team

At the end of August Vicky Mostert once again made her lovely facilities at Mossandi Stud available for KZN Adult Team Trials. I must say here that it is always a pleasure to attend these functions at Vicky and Len’s Home, and we certainly enjoy the warm and friendly hospitality that always prevails.

Anita Adendorff and Ros Hill were on duty to judge the Interprovincial Team Test and we were very lucky to have Claire Mayers on the lovely imported Veltana, making her debut as the Ghost Rider. With everyone’s nerves settle after Veltana’s lovely test, Team Trials started in earnest with Gene McNeil on Mossandi Legacy. She was followed by Emma Brown on Eagles Cornetto, Ultimate and Megan Berning, Coer de Leon and Cath Berning, Calet de Vos and Reinhoud Fan”e Homar, Gen and MOT St John, Emma and Land Rover Dekan, Megan and Nightwatch and not present Jocelyn Constant and Domino.

After each combination had completed their test, Bev Pendock, Team Manager and Coach, asked both of the judges their opinions on the test, and with this information then proceeded to assist the riders in improving certain areas of their performance. It was wonderful to see horses respond with just small pieces of advice and a definite improvement in the way of going.  Bev will certainly be an asset in the warm up for the Interprovincial Competition.

On conclusion of the test riding, everyone converged on the main house and sat of the patio enjoying cocktails and the stunning views of Table Mountain. Lunch was served in true Mostert style at the 16 seater table, and excited plans were made for to journey to SA Dressage Championships in Jhb, commencing 13 September.

This is probably the youngest and most inexperienced Adult team to represent KZN for many years. However that certainly does not detract from the ability of the horses and riders, nor from the very attractive good looks of the KZN Team! This year Land Rover Durban who are staunch supporters of KZN Dressage, will be providing the Team Riders with beautiful Team Jackets.
